Is Count Dooku in fact a true Jedi?

In episode two when Dooku is talking to an imprisoned Obi Wan, he mentions that the republic was under control of a Sith lord. He then follows that by asking Obi Wan to join him to take this Sith lord down. So wouldnt this make him a true Jedi Knight rather than a Sith lord?

He was once a Jedi…he trained Qui-Gon Jinn, but he left the Order sometime after Qui-Gon was killed. He felt it was corrupt, and became a Sith Lord – Palpatine’s apprentice until Anakin was ready to take that spot. He told Obi-Wan the truth that the Senate was under control of the Sith (Palpatine), but this confused Obi-Wan and the Jedi, and since Sith are known liars, no one believed him of course, and the Jedi were duped.
