I’m making a model of a hovercraft in a class and i want to know how to make it go faster. How can i do that?

It’s a basic model made out of foam and i was wondering if i could do anything to make it go faster than the others. Also, what other advanced materials could i make the bottom part or the skirt a real hovercraft can be made other than vinyl and nylon.

Ever worked in fiberglass? you can make a surprisingly strong yet lightweight composite panel by laying up 2 or 3 layers of fiberglass cloth over a piece of cardboard, then sanding the cardboard off after it cures.

If your model is using electric motors for thrust, bump up the voltage by 10 or 12%. Not too much else they burn out. The pill-type batteries have the same power & way less weight than regular alkaline cells — might not last as long though.

If you can modify the props for higher pitch, you’ll get more speed.
