Why can’t some large military transport air-crafts be redesigned as rapid deployment surgical facilities?
In the case of earthquake ravaged Haiti, one of the first objectives was to get the airports functional again.
If a large capacity cargo transport could be outfitted as a rapid response triage facility then, once the airfields were accessible, medical supplies, medical personnel and a place to use them could be at the sight of a disaster within a day.
To avoid territorial disputes, I would think the medical transports would be attached to the United Nations.
I’m pretty sure they have cargo pods like that.
