What’s the difference between shear cutters and sprue cutters?
I was wondering what the difference was, and which type of cutter should I use if I want to get a perfect trim on plastic model parts. I got a pair of shear cutters today but the blades were uneven so I couldn’t cut as close to the plastic part as I would’ve liked. Are the blades on all shear cutters uneven? (I got a Xuron brand). And are sprue cutter blades the same as well, or do they vary by brand?
If you are building a model car, truck or a building for a train lay out, the sprue cutter is the better tool. When I need any tool, I go to the place that supplies what I need and never over the internet.
I’ve been modeling HO scale trains for over 30 yrs now and have always gone to a hobby shop. So to answer the question, the sprue cutter would be better, even for small parts.
