Space Nine
Necessary Trek knowledge for watching Deep Space Nine?

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and I’d like to give it a try. Thing is, I have essentially zero experience with either of the previous series. So, basically, is there a ton of knowledge from TOS and TNG that I’ll need before watching DS9? Should I go ahead and watch the two previous shows before I even try to watch DS9?

You don’t need to watch TOS to understand DS9,but you may need to watch “Best of Both Worlds parts 1 and 2″(TNG),to understand Ben Sisko’s backstory, including his slight dislike for Picard(as seen in the pilot)
