Silver Lacquer

What’s a good trumpet to buy?
I’m thinking about buying a trumpet but I’m not sure which one to get. I’ve heard that Bach Stradivarius 180 trumpets are good but I wasn’t sure whether a 37, 43, or 72 was better for me (I play in jazz band and concert band) I also wasn’t sure about any specific things and what they meant (mouth pipe, bore size, standard tuning vs rounded, whether yellow brass, gold brass, or silver was a better bell and whether silver or lacquer was better for a coating). I have also heard good things about B&S trumpets but I don’t know very much about them. Are Yamaha Xeno’s good? Pretty much any information would help because I’m not exactly sure what all this information means.
I’d like my price range to be $1,000-$1,500 but if it is over that it’s ok.
Jess,
There isn’t really much we can tell you. I always equate this to shoe size. Would you come on here and ask, “What’s the best shoe size for me?” You will have to get out there, maybe with a friend, and try out all the brands you can and pick the best for you.
(other stuff, added later)…… silver is usually plated yellow brass. Silver plate doesn’t deaden the sound a bit, lacquer does a little. Silver sounds like bare brass. Gold brass is softer than yellow and gives a darker sound. I don’t really think there is anything special about rounded tuning slides, the original builders know what they are doing.
