Vehicles made by Chrysler’s three core brands are subjected to recall

Vehicle recalls eventually becomes one of the most common trends in automobile market. This action is primarily triggered by reports from consumers and other agencies such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the possible defects found on vehicle models subjected to recall. Given this, the number of recall issues pointed towards car makers has became one of the most important aspects that new car finders are considering when they search for vehicles that would be purchasing. In most cases, the number of recall orders issued by car makers also serves as the basis used by car finders in selecting vehicles that they would subject to auto financing.

If this would be the case, Chrysler as well as its three core brands might end up selling fewer vehicles for this year. This is because several vehicle models produced by core brands such as Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler are expected to be recalled in the United States due to a potential problem on these vehicles’ steering columns.

According to Chrysler, the problem with the steering column was probably caused by incorrect installation of the pivot rivet in the steering column. Chrysler also considers the possibility that this problem was also caused by some of their assembly plants’ failure to install the pivot rivet in the steering column while these are assembled.

Given this issue, the company recognizes the need to recall the vehicles that were affected by the problem. This is because the problem with the steering column might lead to accidents particularly frontal collisions since the faulty steering column might prevent the driver of the car from steering the vehicle well since any failure on the column automatically leads to poor steering performance.

Among the vehicles that might be recalled are the popular models such as the Dodge Journey, Chrysler 200s, and Jeep Wranglers. Aside from these, there are still other models that would be recalled bringing the total number of units affected to about 11, 351 units. The recall would allow Chrysler and the two other core brands to fix the source of the problem and make their vehicles safer and more reliable.
