Can I use auto primer to paint plastic model cars?

I am thinking of painting a plastic model primer black but have no idea if a good quality auto primer would harm the plastic. If I can use auto primer, what brand is best?

How are you man? I would not use the auto primer, first it’s way to heavy, second the texture would void all the little details. And it seems to me that it would eat into the plastic on some level.

You can get so many products for models at Walmart that would work.

The only thing I would do is use a model prep cleaner, made for models & handle with gloves.
