Why is the sky blue during the day; at night it’s dark as empty space?

When the Sun shines it creates that shade of blue that makes it look as if something is there; then when night falls you can see the darkness of emptiness.

It’s NOT because of dust! The sky of Mars is PINK from dust! Earth’s sky is blue because the nitrogen molecules in the air ‘capture’ the blue segment of the spectrum, making it visible during the day. At night, without sunlight, all you see is the black of space.
