Sanding Metallic Acrylic Enamel Single Stage Paint?

Hello everyone. I just finished painting my truck for the 3rd time ha ha. This is definitely the best time so far, but there is a moderate amount of orange peel on the surface of the paint. I really don’t want to paint it again and I don’t want to leave it the way it is. I’ve done a lot of online research on the topic of wet sanding metallic single stage paints and the answers were mixed. Generally most of the people said it is a horrible idea to wet sand it. There were a handful of answers which said that it was possible if you were really careful and used extremely high grit sand paper. I’m wondering if any has had any positive experiences with wet sanding Metallic acrylic enamel single stage paint?

If you sand it, you will end up painting it again. Single stage paint does not like to be sanded.
If you sand it, you will wreck the metallic in the paint. It also doesn’t like to be buffed. The best way to spray a metallic is as a base / clear system. Then if it has orange peel, you could sand it out without damaging it. You didn’t say what color you used, but silvers are the hardest to spray and get a good metallic layout. I would use a good urethane paint…(PPG) That will last the longest, and have the most UV resistance.
