Master Auto

Master Auto
Why does my computer suddenly have to auto-detect its peripheral IDE devices upon every reboot?

It always takes about 10 agonizing seconds for my primary master IDE hard drive and my secondary master IDE DVD-RAM drive to be auto-detected. I used to have a primary slave IDE hard drive on the same primary IDE channel that I removed because I thought my system didn’t have enough power to run both. Once I removed it the auto-detect issue happens. Why?

Check the back of the HDD and make sure it is selected as “master” or “cable select” if you have only one HDD. It’s probably the jumper on the HDD.

Good luck
