Launch Set

Is there a way to set a password for FireFox to launch?
Not necesarilly a password manager (like the master password built into firefox) but before a person is allowed to get onto the internet at all. Such as when they double click the icon a password is required to go any further at all. Thanks!

Well You could download a third party encryption tool Like AxCrypt.
http://www.axantum.com/AxCrypt/
Then Browse to the firefox exe file and right click on it and encrypt it.
There are a couple of problems with this sollution.
Someone could just install firefox in another directory. If you really want to secure all the data in firefox from other users of the computer the best way is to make multiple computer profiles.
Create a limited profile for the user who you want to restrict access from.
On your Profile go to My Computer —> Tools —–> Folder Options ——>View Scroll down to the bottom and uncheck Simple File Sharing
Click Apply To All Folders at the Top
Click Apply at the bottom and OK
Navigate to the firefox Directory
Right Click on it
Click on sharing
Click Share This Folder
Click Permissions
Delete Everyone
Type in the names of the users you want to grant access to
You may wish to create a third profile
Leave the Child’s user profile with no internet access and create a third profile that you would have to log them into. You could give them read only access to the firefox directory. That way they couldn’t view your personal documents, change the program and would only access the internet when you wanted them to.
These sollutions will only block access to firefox, not internet explorer.
If you just want to block internet access some more comprehensive sollutions exist.
Several web filtering providers give comprehensive inexpensive filtering. I recommend CovenantEyes they will email you every site your child visits and filter content if you want.
If you have any questions feel free to email or IM me.
