Lacquer Spray

What is the best way to get a flat mirror like surface from spray lacquer?
I want to spray clear gloss laquer over a machined metal faceplate of an ipod case

to give it a smooth finish. The brushed metal is a magnet for dust and dirt and is very difficult to clean so I want the face plate to have smooth glossy surface.
Start off surface preparation with fine sand paper ( black type) and remove all dust.
Spray 3 to 4 coats of lacquer over the faceplate, solid dry between coats and let it stand for a day.
Polish the surface with Re-Po or any other brand liquid polish gently with a soft cloth.
When dry, wipe off the dry powder film, you will get a mirror finish as good as the piano surface.
