Why didn’t the USA convert to the metric system long ago?
The imperial system is so useless and outdated. Look at this map:

Pounds and inches are so old and outdated. Conversions between units are silly. The scientific community exclusively uses the metric system and it’s embarrassing when NASA makes conversion errors from imperial to metric and consequently blows up their shuttle because of it.
In metric I can convert quickly and easily in my head between different units with a great deal of accuracy. Most scientific constants are derived from fundamental metric units.
Now they’re waited so long they will have a very hard time changing because it will cost a great deal of money to do so. What is your opinion on the matter?
We tried in the 1970s, but it didn’t work. I’m an American and I’m all for the metric system, I think it makes more sense. Unfortunately if most Americans had their way, the rest of the world would be practicing our system.
