Hot Stuff

Hot Stuff
Why does the air turn wavy around hot stuff?

Like in the summer when it gets really hot, the air starts to look wavy.

Anything that is very hot emits heat out in conduction (direct contact) convection (movement of atoms near the hot object) and radiation (as heat waves)
Convection pushes the hot atoms or molecules up while the colder ones come down. When this process repeats around the hot objects, it forms a circulation or wavy pattern
