Gloss Varnish

Gloss Varnish
What is gloss medium and varnish for?

I just started acrylic painting. What is that for? I really don’t know… I don’t take classes, self learning :D . Can anyone tell me?

After the painting is completely dry you can use them when a glossy protective coat is desired. It enhances the depth of color intensity, increases transparency and gloss. Or you can use acrylic medium with your paint to ease the flow of paint, and add flexibility and adhesion to the paint film.

Medium can also be used to thin the transparency of the paint for “glazing” which is a technique where the artist paints semi-transparent layers over a base color to increase luminosity.

Acrylic medium is translucent milky-white when wet, but transparent when dry.
Acrylic polymer medium and acrylic polymer varnish is water-soluble when wet, but water proof when dry.
