Etched Parts

Is the bullet drop compensator on an ACOG parallax free, or just the illuminated part of the reticule?

Also, is the bullet drop compensator etched onto the glass of the scope, or is it projected in the same way as the fibre optic/tritium lit part of the reticule?

I believe they are all on the same plane so they should all have the same amount of parallax error or lack there of.
