How do you install the hammer assembly back into a Winchester model 88?

I’m trying to get the Hammer (part 3888) back in, but it’s almost impossible with all the resistance coming from the Hammer Spring (part 4488). Is there an easy way to compress this spring, or do something to that effect, so that I can get the hammer back in?
