Is it possible to take elements from a plasma rifle and a positron cannon and combined them…?

To create a more powerful weapon if so what would be a good name for it? The question comes from combining the “Buster Rifle” seen in the anime Gundam Wing with the “Lohengrin” positron cannon seen in the anime Gundam Seed.
