In this article, we are going to discuss about avoiding a motorcycle crash.
You need a good protective body armor. When you begin driving a motorbike for the first time, you learn to protect yourself with full body armor. You should have your gloves, goggles, elbow and knees protection, leather pants and helmet and then you feel safe. But after some time the your armor outwears, a small fissure in your gear can result into a broken bone. Are your wearing your chest plate? Are your goggles shatterproof? Sometimes we make mistakes but be careful of your mistakes, some of them you won’t be able to afford. The protective gear is not all; you have to check your motorbike every time you decide to go on a ride. Check the controls, check the tires and check everything, the signals, the lights and more.
Now, we’re going to write about common faults that lead to motorbike crashes and what can you do to prevent them. Don’t drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, we hope everyone knows not to do it and everybody knows it is a typical error that leads often times to an accident. Loss of control is the first reason people crash their motorcycles. You can lose control over your bike because of many factors and you have to know each factor. You could lose the control of your motorbike when you accelerate too much, or when you’re not familiar with the the motorbike’s control or lack experience. All these depend on you and are fixable if you have a little patience and drive safe until you gain more experience. Still there are factors that do not depend on you, such as the ground surface and the atmospheric condition.
Always pay attention to the condition of the ground, because otherwise it can be devastating. By surface condition we mean, road dips, humps, cracks, oil, mud, sand, water. All these potential risks lead to a loss of control over your bike. Many times you don’t pay attention, you see nothing, and your bike suddenly slips. Check for clues, if there are building sites nearby it is possible to be mud and sand on the road. If you see big trucks ahead, they could have leakage, so pay attention to oil splats.
Paying attention to potential hazards is essential if you want to avoid a motorbike crash but you should also know how to position yourself in traffic. Always be conscious of other vehicles. Don’t stay closer than 2 second away of the car in front of you and never position yourself in a car’s blind spot; that leads often times to a motorcycle crash. Remember to talk and signal with other drivers to make sure they see you, particularly trucks; in the end all this will help you to prevent most motorbike crashes.
