How would I get a camera onto my Airsoft gun?

Alright so I want to have a camera on my KWA G36 so I can try to convince my friend that’s is good with shotguns (trap shooting) to join our airsoft team. I want to put it on the rails so I can mount it on my MP7 in a pistols match. I have a 2″x4″ camera but I’m afraid to use that without protection for the lens and the camera. Could I perhaps make an acrylic plastic case to mount my camera on then just stick it on the side? Please help! Thanks!
